Renovations

We're in the midst of a massive home renovation - as much DIY as we can but some things are a bit beyond us. Start here to learn how we got ourselves into this mess - and then you can either read through all reno posts, starting with the most recent, or work through our checklist below if you're interested in specific areas.

This is our to-do list - I will update with links and cross off items as they are completed.

Downstairs bedrooms

• Paint and carpet
• Install new wardrobes

Kitchen / dining

• Reconfigure doors
• Install cabinets
• Build in cabinets
• Have floor repaired and refinished
• Tile backsplash
• Complete plastering and painting

Lounge

• Remove wall between lounge and passage
• Gib over exposed sarking
• Plaster and paint
• Have floor repaired and refinished
• Install new window on north-facing wall

Downstairs bathroom

• Finish building interior walls (!)
• Plaster and paint

• Install bathroom fixtures

Playroom / guest bedroom

• Reconfigure doors
• Remove old kitchen fittings
• Reline ceiling and walls
• Add door out to patio
• Install Murphy bed and storage

Study / sewing room

• Organise
• Plaster and paint
• Carpet floor

Laundry

• Install storage
• Reline back wall to resolve dampness
• Paint

Entrance passage

• Make banister safe
• Plaster and paint

Landscaping

• Fence patio area
• Waterblast and paint retaining wall
• Fence south boundary
• Fence along top of retaining wall
• Fence front boundary
• Build deck and landscape lawn on south side and add french doors from dining room
• Add banister on stairs to front door
• Set up compost
• Create vege garden
• Plant fruit trees

General

• Shift switchboard and replace old wiring
• Heating
• Sort out drainage outside
• Add vapour barrier and/or insulation underfloor
• Add extra ceiling insulation
